If you are an artist, but you think that it is even remotely possible to appeal to every human being alive, you are thinking more like a utility company.
Utility companies provide an anonymous, ubiquitous and emotionally neutral product which has no personality whatsoever. This is to make sure it offends precisely no one.
The problem with this mentality is that the only way to have a competitive advantage over others is to be as cheap as possible.
If you race to the bottom as an artist, you will eventually stoop so low that you deliver no value to the culture at all.
Have pride in the fact that you are a one of a kind.
You are not a commodity.
