Design vs. Discovery
There is a myth that some producers would like you to believe.
“How did you design those sounds?”
They had an idea in their mind. They sat down and made it. Done.
Myth.
Design in sound is mostly a fallacy. Or at least, people give it too much credit for what it’s worth.
Most interesting creative ideas come from experimentation and discovery. After smashing out a whole string of ideas and picking out the most interesting ones to work on.
We don’t necessarily know what’s going to sound good. We just know it does when it comes out.
